Note
  1. TPES : Total Primary Energy Supplied
  2. CO2/ GDP ie the energy intensity in India with regard to Gross Domestic Product has been reducing indicating improved efficiency in energy use.
  3. CO2/GDP (kg CO2 per 1995 US $PPP): Ratio of carbon dioxide emissions to Gross Domestic Product of India adjusted for purchasing power parity.
  4. Even though per capita emissions ( CO2/Population) has been  increasing over the years 10 0.97 tonnes in 2002, it is still less than the world average of about  4 tonnes.

The emission details need to be updated - also it is very very important to work out per capita emissions from rural and urban population as (i) they are likely to be drastically different (ii) this shall help in making more reliable projections into future. - This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
