Acute drinking water scarcity in 8 Karnataka districts

Parts of Karnataka seems to be heading for a second successive year of water scarcity

According to the Drought Monitoring Cell of the state government, eight districts are in the grip of an acute drinking water problem. Apart from the drought-prone northern districts such as Bidar, Bijapur and Raichur, the Malanad region is also facing acute water scarcity this year.

Drought conditions prevailed in 18 of the 27 districts of the state last year.
